Two escape rooms experiences designed, put together and ran by us, an ITU student organization in the spring and the fall semester.

In the first one, themed like an art heist, participants played the part of contract thieves and had 45 minutes to open the four locks protecting the valuable painting they were ordered to steal.

The second was themed like an abandoned arcade, where players had 45 minutes to solve the puzzles left by the late millionaire owner of the arcade to secure his inheritance.

To achieve their goal, players had to solve several partly connected puzzle branches including searching, logic and dexterity puzzles.

We came up and designed puzzles, theme and room flow during weekly meetings in the first half of the semester. We then set up and decorated the room and ran it as part of the ITU LAN event. The group had a flat hierarchy and responsibility for the various parts was mostly shared but at the same time, we each kept ownership of the puzzles we came up with.

For the spring escape room I designed and modeled a laser-cut 3D maze box.

For the fall escape room I designed and built an “electrical box” puzzle and designed, modeled and 3D printed a joystick-camouflaged key.
